This one decided to check me out and flared it beautiful neck as it came almost face to face with me. Notice that it is sticking its tonge out of me or is it licking its chops before the planned attack.
Working the flowers for a bite to eat as they prepare for the long flight to South or Central America can be a big undertaking.

Excellent photos; I esp love that last one! The wild bee balm here looks the same, it's past its prime and "bald" on top.
I'm almost surprised that the hummers are still in Idaho. They've been swarming my feeder and I have to fill it daily. Yet it's beginning to feel like fall here and I expect they'll soon head south. Nice captures.

Beautiful shots! My wife was wearing a white blouse with flowers printed on it on a recent camping trip and was "molested" by a hummer. Naturally, I rushed to her rescue.

When I lived in Spokane for college years ago I was always fascinated with the hummingbirds. A very colorful and interesting bird.
Love these little birds. I've just started photographing them in my own yard. This flower looks like my favorite little bee balm. Do you know if it is?
