After three days of blizzards, Thanksgiving Eve was clear and cold. As my wife and I came home of picking up our repaired snowblower, we were amazed at the beautiful sundog. Sundogs are made much like summer rainbows are. Only a sundog is created by the sun shining through ice crystals instead of raindrops.
A great way to end another wild day in Idaho.

Gorgeous! The gift for suffering a 3-day blizzard.
It is indeed a fantastic way to end a day of any kind, but particularly a wild one! Terrific capture, Bill! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and enjoy a wonderful weekend -- hopefully with some good weather!!

Beautiful capture of the sundog, Bill! I hope you all stay safe in the snowstorms.
Thanks for sharing this neat sky scene. I enjoyed hearing about the sundog as we do not have those here. Just pretty rainbows sometimes.
Now that is beautiful - how lucky!
Wow this is my first time to see sundog. Very gorgeous!

Beautiful picture. And thanks for the definition. I saw a reference to sundog somewhere else and at the time meant to look it up, but forgot. Thanks for doing it for me.
Beautiful! And I'm glad to know the definition of a sundog.
