Ospreys at work

Most of the oprey nests are showing baby activity now.  But once you get close they hide in the big nests they have built on perches built for them.  One of those nests are just five miles away from my home and I have enjoyed watching them.

Here the female brings a stick to add to the nest even though the baby has hatched.  Maybe they continue building to keep the baby from rolling out of the nest.

While I am a long ways away, the male brings a fish to the female to feed.  You can just see the baby's head above the sticks of the nest

Several hours later, the male bring home a large sucker, probably for both the female and the baby.

Later, the female flies around exercising her wings.

Just another day in the wildness of Idaho.

Superb shots of a beautiful bird Bill, we get them on migration here in the Spring and Autum (Sorry Fall) I still have not seen one this year.

What hard working and beautiful birds. Great shots Bill. We have many Bald Eagles here in the south but few ospreys. They seem to prefer our boreal forests and lakes to the north

It may be "just another day" but that's exactly why I love reading about it, illustrated by your wonderful photos!

Lovely! I miss the ospreys at Fern Ridge Lake where we usually are this time of year. Thanks for sharing yours.

Bill, what a blessing to have a nest of these beautiful Osprey so close to your home. Yes, indeed they do exactly as you suggested. As the young ones grow and move about, the adults will bring in new sticks to help hold them in, as well as sometimes provide a bit of shade. These images are stunning and so glad that you are able to keep up with this nest.

Very nice! Just this afternoon I shot my first full sequence of an osprey from dive through a long carry of the fish past me. Your weather looks a lot better though! Congrats on some great shots.

Great action shots of the osprey. The first one is my favorite.

Super action shots Bill. They are starting their southward migration over here so I'll have to head coastwards to see if I can spot one.
