I'm Back

After a week of traveling, a severe cold, a three-day conference, I will post a few of the pictures I lucked into.
Here are two flickers of a group of 18 fight over some rotten apples under an old apple tree.

Here is a mostly red-shafted Northern Flicker with some yellow-shafted feathers in its tail and it also had four in the left wing.

I was also able to visit the group of Long-eared owls and found three pairs of the 12 still there and setting up home by working on nests.  We will see what happens.

They were also a little more available for roosting pictures.

Just some more wild days in Idaho.

HI, Wondered what had happened to you.. Glad you are back. I've never seen the Long-eared Owls before. How gorgeous!

We have Northern Flickers --but I can't say that I've ever seen as beautiful an underside as yours has. That brilliant orange/red color is fabulous...

Thanks for sharing and welcome back.

Oh, my, your photographs are amazing!

This is my first visit to your blog and have enjoyed your pictures very much. It seems birds are so difficult to photograph..........they just refuse to sit still for me! LOL

Hello Bill, so glad you're back! Did wonder!
Hope you're fully recovered now!
Photos are brilliant as usual.
Love the Owl. A favourite bird but have never seen one in its own natural habitat. But I'm quite a novice at bird watching although quite keen on all aspects of wildlife & nature.
Take care

Wow!!! The colors on that flicker are just amazing. I guess because I'm used to only seeing the yellow-shafted variety, these reddish oranges are stunning. Great photos of the owls too...
