The inter-species kiss

This afternoon as I was watching and photographing my bird feeders, a royal battle starte between the Pine Siskins and the American Goldfinches.  The more aggressive siskins usually won the battles. Here a siskin "locks lips" with a gold finch.

Wild affection in a backyard somewhere in Idaho.

Hi Bill, I love my sweet little goldfinches. AND--I dread it when the Pine Siskins come back here for the winter. They came last year and took over the feeders --about 100 or so of them at a time. Yuk!!!!

Great picture of the two birds.

That really is a great shot! You know who took over my birdfeeders? The deer! They sneak in at night and empty them.

Wow, great catch on the kiss - even if it probably wasn't meant to be all that loving!
