Black capped Chickadees

Yesterday after church I heard the familiar call of Black-capped chickadees calling in my back yard bushes.  I immediately prepared the sunflower and niger seed feeders and here they came.  I will enjoy the chickadees, goldfinch, house finch and pine siskin all winter long.  The cold days will be bright by the colorful birds in my back yard.

With snow predicted tonight, I will make sure the feeders are full for tomorrow.  I want the birds to stay to keep my days bright with their colors and battles.  These are not the only ones that will visit my back yard, but they will be here every day.

Chickadees and Goldfinches...two of my favorite birds, if you have a lot of patience, Chickadees will eat out of your hand.
We can't feed the birds since we moved because of bears and I really miss seeing my little buddies.

Great bird photos. I'm glad you reminded me. I need to fill my feeders, too.

Way to look at the bright side of what otherwise is a gloomy long eastern Idaho winter!

I've noticed that my feeders still aren't getting much attention, except from House Finches. There must still be enough native food sources for the Goldfinches, Siskins, Juncos, and White-crowned Sparrows.

I was almost about to make it our your way this upcoming weekend Bill. I was gonna call ya to go birdin', but plans just changed tonight and we'll be going straight to Utah for my nephew's baptism. Bummer!

The pine siskin, especially, is a great catch!

HI Bill, watching the wild birds is one of my winter pleasures too. Great photos. We occasionally get pine siskins but not usually. The others are familiar visitors at my feeders too.

Bill...shouldn't those lovely birds be flying South!

Even down here in Tennessee, we have the Chickadees, Titmice, Nuthatches, Goldfinches, House Finches and when they get here---a million Pine Siskins.

Keep them fed and warm-- up there in Idaho. I'll do the same thing down here.

Your pictures are lovely. I changed the wildlife 'diet' last winter and was rewarded by the continuing visits of what I term the more 'unusual' birds. The siskins don't visit until late winter but they're worth waiting for.

Super photos of these lovely birds, Bill! We love to feed and watch birds, too, and are learning the patterns of migration in our North Florida home. It's all new to us, and we are sometimes surprised by which birds come in each season. We have cardinals nearly year round, and chickadees are showing up as the weather begins to cool. Some species must have a wide range.

All those but the pine siskins visit me. Do you have any recommendations for a heated bird bath that won't blow over?
