I went back out to where I saw the Pinyon Jays yesterday and set up my blind and sit there for two hours. The jays came in twice and I was able to get some better pictures.
I also watched over 30 American Goldfinch with three Lesser Goldfinch mixed with them.
I also had 20 Dark-eyed Juncos around me. They ran from a very dark head to a light grey head.
Some appeared to be almost a blue head and throat.
I also saw Housefinch, magpies, Juniper Titmouse, Canada Geese, Trumpeter Swans, starlings, Red-shafted flickers and Downy woodpeckers.
Another great day celebrating the wildness of Idaho.

Nice shots!
A great collection of birds and photos.
Those are beutiful Jays Bill. I wonder if they are as boisterous as their Blue cousins. My "lifer" for 2012 so far was to see a Norther Goshawk last week at Sax Zim bog in Northern Minn. :)
Never heard of a Pinyon Jay before!! Pretty handsome bird. I am thinking of establishing a blind for birding purposes next summer. I like to sit among the crowberry barrens and watch the whimbrels, but they aren't very cooperative.
Those Pinyon Jays are quite outstanding...lovely shade of blue to their feathers. Happy weekend Bill!
You are a very patient man and it paid off. Great photographs.
Well worth the time to enjoy those interactions - thanks for sharing.
Hi Bill Another great set of images of your wintering birds.
Wow! Glad I checked back today -- those are outstanding pictures and what a bird count!
You saw an amazing variety of birds. All great shots!
Nice - that last shot...the focus is amazing. The detail - wow! Good job.
