Hiking in moose country.

This afternoon I was hiking a ridge as the hunting season closed yesterday and I ran into this big bad boy and his girlfriend.

I don't think he saw me until the cow saw me as I was backing up away from the bull.

Then he saw me but I was close enough to the trees that I stopped worrying.

Even though we do not have a lot of snow, the deer are starting to migrate to the lower lands.

The sunset was colorful as I come out of the mountains.

A great way to spend a few hours after a windy cold morning in the Wilds of Idaho.

SkyWatch Friday - Sunset after wrestling with fish.

Just got back from a sturgeon fishing trip with the sun setting on a beauful and memorable day.   Here the sun is setting over the Snake River below the JC Strike Reservoir near Mountain Home.

It was the end of a wonderful day when I caught the largest fish of my life.

Summer sunset

Last week while coming home from fishing, the sun was setting in the west between two storms.  I caught the sun between them as it was headed to bed.

A great way to end another wild day in Idaho.

SkyWatch Friday - Sunset over the desert.

With the sun setting last night I captured a silhouette of a wild rose bush.  We got at least one day without snow but more is predicted.

The end of another wild day in Idaho.

SkyWatch Friday - Happy New Year

Happy 2010 - May it be a very happy and joyous one for you and your families.

Snow is falling as I write this, so I will be late going fishing today. Only a couple of days before I am back in school trying to inspire kids beyond what they think they can do.

We did get a break in the gray skies earlier in the week and I stole this picture of the sunset as the sun was setting over the Henrys Fork of the Snake River near St. Anthony, Idaho.

Just the end of another wild day in Idaho. Happy New Year.

SkyWatch Friday - Moon sliver

Last night I got home from school just after the sun went down.  The moon was just a sliver of while as the rest of the sky colored up beautifully.  I sat in my backyard enjoying the changing colors as it got dark and listened to the coyotes howling in the river bottoms.

Just another end to a wild day in Idaho.
